Cadre of UTLA -SKT nabbed in Manipur, arms recovered

Silchar, October 2: A cadre of SK Thadou’s United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA-SKT), was apprehended by the Kaiphundai in Tamenglong district of Manipur late on Monday evening.

The arrested cadre was identified as Chungkai Singson Kuki, a resident of Mukthakal village.

According to a media statement by Assam Rifles on Tuesday, the cadre was nabbed during an operation conducted with the help of Manipur commandos and police officials from Tamenglong late on Monday evening.

During interrogation, the cadre revealed the location of a cache of weapons in the backyard of his house. Recoveries included one US Made M4 A1 Carbine, one AK-47 Assault Rifle, two pistols and over 113 rounds of ammunition.

The apprehended cadre and two other cadres were involved in the kidnapping of the project manager of Reddy Construction Company on September 29. The project manager was abducted from near Vangaichungpao in Tamenglong, Manipur.

Operations are underway to nab the other two cadres of UTLA-SKT and other accomplices.
