*3 Persons from Bangladesh Held for Violation of Indian Passport Act*
Three Bangladeshi nationals were detained by police at Lala in Hailakandi district, Assam on Sunday for flagrant violation of the Indian Passport Act, 1967. Refuting reports in a section of the media that the Bangladeshi nationals were detained by the police for entering illegally into India, Superintendent of Police, Mohneesh Mishra said they all had valid passports with tourist visa but violated the Passport Act by carrying out trade and business activities. “The Bangladeshi nationals came on a tourist visa but committed offence under the Passport Act by indulging in business activities which they cannot do so, for they did not possess business visa,” said Mishra. The Bangladeshi citizens nabbed are Mohammed Hafiz Molla, Ayar Ali and Mohammed Bablu Molla from Bhulbari village of Gopalganj district. - The Shillong Times
