Fuel prices at record high; petrol price hits Rs 76.61/litre in Imphal

IMPHAL: Prices of petrol and diesel hit a record high on Friday in the four metro cities of the country namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai as the prices of both the fuels were raised by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) today. The fuel prices were also increased on Thursday.
Petrol was highest in Mumbai where it was retailed at Rs. 85.93 per litre while it was selling at a price of Rs. 78.52 per litre in Delhi, Rs. 81.44 per litre in Kolkata and Rs. 81.58 per litre in Chennai.
Diesel is sold at Rs. 70.21 per litre in Delhi, Rs. 74.54 per litre in Mumbai, Rs. 73.06 per litre in Kolkata and Rs. 74.18 per litre in Chennai, according to daily price notification issued by state-owned oil firms.
In Imphal too, the price of petrol hit a high of Rs 76.61 per litre on Friday while the diesel is being sold at Rs 68.24 per litre.
The hike in fuel prices is mainly due to the recent rise in crude oil cost and the high excise duty levied on transportation fuel in the country, as per reports.
