Kerala flood: 9-yr-old donates piggy bank savings for cycle; Pankaj M Munjal gifts her bike, promises one every year

Aug 30, 2018,

The terrifying situation and rising death toll in the Kerala floods have  united the nation in coming forward to support the rescue operations. The deadly floods have claimed around 210 lives since August 8 and displaced over 7.14 lakh people from their homes.
From industrialists to film stars, state governments to the common man, people from across the country have been sending donations and relief material to the state.

Amid all the support in this time of adversity, a nine year-old girl from a town in Tamil Nadu has parted with her savings, and donated almost as much as Paytm boss Vijay Shekhar Sharma, who sent in Rs 10,000.

Anupriya from Villupuram parted with the Rs 9000 that she had been saving since four years for a bicycle.
Her gesture, wining hearts all over, also reached Hero Cycles Chairman and MD Pankaj M Munjal.
Appreciating her efforts, Munjal tweeted promising her a bike every year. He shared a picture with Anupriya on a cycle, and her family, saying, "Thanks to you dear Anupriya and pleasure to talk to your mom. I had read every act of kindness has a ripple effect. Through you I experienced, “Some act of kindness may bring an avalanche “. You are truly blessed and keep up this character of strength that you carry."

Earlier, the Hero Cycles boss had tweeted, "Anupriya, parnam to you. You are a noble soul and wish you spread the good around. Hero is too pleased to give you one bike every year of your life. Pl share your contact on my account. Love you and best wishes. Prayers for Kerala."

Hero Cycles, in it official Twitter account, had also appreciated her 'gesture to support humanity' and said she would get a brand new cycle from them.

Congress MP from Kerala, Shashi Tharoor, also took to Twitter to welcome the company's gesture.
