*Manipur Expands Security at Borders Post NRC Draft Release.* Manipur Government has stepped up efforts to prevent a possible influx of illegal migrants into the border State in view of the publication of the final draft of ‘National Register of Citizens (NRC)’ in neighbouring Assam. State Chief Minister N Biren Singh speaking to a local TV channel in Imphal on Monday said that necessary steps have been taken by deploying extra security men at Jiribam area bordering Assam’s Cachar district. He also informed that similar steps have been taken at border areas of Tamenglong and Mao gate area. The security men guarding the entry points to Manipur particularly Jiribam and Mao gate, are monitoring the movement of illegal migrants. Meanwhile, Convenor of student’s wing, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit system has informed that they have started to monitor and prevent entry of illegal migrants into the State. - The Assam Tribune
